You're going to love how simple and easy this recipe is. You'll never want to go back to store bought English muffins again! You can also double this recipe if you want to make a batch of 16 muffins!
Ingredients
3 cups of all purpose flour
2 tsp of white sugar
2 tsp of instant yeast
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
2 TBSP of oil
3/4 cup of warm water
Step 1: Let’s Get Started
First we are going to mix all of our dry ingredients together, flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt. Slightly mix the dry ingredients together with your hand.
Step 2:
Then, pour in your oil and warm water ( around 105*) and begin to mix with your hand or a wooden spoon.
Step 3
Knead for about 5 minutes. It will be sticky to start with and then finish out into a firm ball of dough. Take and roll your dough around to form a nice ball to let it rest.
Step 4:
Let the dough rest for 1 hour. Set your bowl on a drying rack will help it to rise more as it lets air all the way around your bowl.
Step 5:
After it has finished resting we are going to roll the dough into a long line and cut it into 8 pieces
Step 6:
Roll them into 8 balls of dough and place them on a towel, or Saran Wrap to rest for another 40 minutes.
Step 7:
After the second rest get each ball of dough out and flatten them. Pinch together any pieces that may have started to separate.
Step 8:
Fry on medium heat till they are golden brown on both sides. And your done!
Enjoy!
Once your English muffins are done, store them in an air tight container or ziplock bag. If you have a very humid kitchen place a paper towel in the bag/container to absorb any extra moisture.
You can also store your extras in the freezer in a freezer safe container. When your ready to eat, get them out and let them thaw at room temperature!
I hope you enjoy these as much as we do!
