How to Tell if Your Cantaloupe is Ripe

Did you know that some cantaloupes ripen after being harvested and others not so much ? The best practice is to wait till that melon is ripe and ready to be harvested.

My family loves cantaloupe and they eat it faster than I can peel it and cut it up! If you pick it at just the right time that sweet juicy fruit is good 3 meals a day !!

My family is always waiting on my cantaloupe to come in, not just my children but my mama, aunt, and cousins. Cool sweet cantaloupe is the perfect snack in the heat of the summer.

How to tell if your cantaloupe is ripe first thing you want to look for is the color of the melon it should be netted and yellow there should not be any green on it at all.

The second thing you want to check for is the top of the melon where the stem comes in. It should be brown and have cracks around the stem. The melon should easily pull away from the vine.

That's it! It's that simple!

If your cantaloupe is getting too ripe you will see the sides start to bust or get soft. You can still harvest it and eat it. Just be sure to cut the soft spots out as they tend to get slimy.

Cantaloupe is great with breakfast, lunch, mid day snacks and supper.

Cantaloupes are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin which are antioxidants, Vitamin A which is great for eye health.

Potassium, great for cramps and hydration

Fiber, great for digesation

I hope you enjoy your cantaloupe this year!
