Dry Food Storage 

Are you just getting started with food storage? have limited space? need foods that have a long shelf life? If so then storing dry goods is for you !! The best place to store dry goods in cool dark places such as a basement ( if there isn't too much of a water problem), attic if its cool enough or garage. Outside builds work well as long as you can moderately control the climate. Buy moisture oxygen absorbs will only aid in keep the shelve live of your food.Check out a few of my favorite things to use when I am storing dry goods

Mason Jars

I do love Ball half gallon mason jars. I do recommend getting the wide mouth if you can it just makes it easier for getting items in and out of the jar.

I try to buy in bulk when I can and most of my dry foods do come in 50 lbs bags. However bugs and get in though th paper bags, they could get wet and ruin your food so transferring my dry goods to a black bucket helps to keep the shelf life longer

Oxygen absorbers give you a little add peace when storing dry goods. Absorbers are also needed if you are needing to stop dry goods for a long period of time ( more than a year). no oxygen no bugs! lol!!
